Student Success Story – Samira Tokhi
Samira Tokhi is a proud 2025 graduate from our Adelaide campus. At just 24 years old, she is now the Spa Manager at Bodhi Wellness Spa Retreat, located within the prestigious SkyCity Hotel in Adelaide.
Samira attended our Job Fair in September 2024 with a clear intention to explore opportunities in the beauty industry. Interestingly, she did not initially apply to Bodhi Wellness Spa, as she was considering a different career direction and had also applied to MECCA and Rationale on the day.
At the same time, Bodhi Wellness Spa had recently partnered with The French Beauty Academy to recruit a beauty therapist for their new luxury spa. With encouragement from Adelaide Campus Principal Michelle Jensen, Samira decided to take a chance and attend an interview with Bodhi.
What happened next became a standout moment of the Job Fair. Samira not only impressed the team during her interview, but she also completed a massage trial on the spot—so relaxing that it almost put her interviewer to sleep!
As a result of her exceptional performance and presence, Samira was offered the position of Spa Coordinator shortly after the event. Then, in an incredible progression, just under two months later, on Christmas Eve, she received a call offering her the role of Spa Manager.
Samira often reflects on how the service excellence training she received continues to shape her professional approach and client care. She also credits the Management Diploma as a key foundation that gave her the confidence, leadership skills, and industry readiness to step into such a senior role so early in her career.
Today, Samira’s journey stands as a powerful example of how opportunity, preparation, and courage can come together to create extraordinary career outcomes from The French Job Fair.
1. Was there an invaluable lesson or piece of advice you received at The French that has stayed with you?
One of the most valuable lessons I took from The French was the importance of attention to detail and creating a complete client experience. It taught me that beauty therapy goes beyond the treatment itself; it’s about how you make someone feel from the moment they walk into the moment they leave. That level of care and professionalism has stayed with me and continues to shape how I lead my team today.
2. Can you tell us about your current role and what a typical working day looks like?
I’m currently working as a Spa Manager at BODHI Spa within Eos by SkyCity in Adelaide. My role involves overseeing the full day-to-day operations of the spa, leading and supporting a team of therapists, and ensuring every guest receives a seamless, high-end wellness experience.
A typical day includes managing bookings and team rosters, monitoring performance and retail targets, liaising closely with hotel departments, handling guest relations, and maintaining the spa’s standards across all areas. It’s a fast-paced, dynamic role that blends leadership, operations, and client care.
3. What is your favourite thing about your job?
My favourite part is creating meaningful experiences for both clients and my team. I love seeing clients leave feeling relaxed, confident, and cared for, and equally, I enjoy mentoring my team and watching them grow in their confidence and skills. Being able to contribute to both is incredibly rewarding.
4. With innovations and trends constantly evolving, what excites you most about working in the beauty industry right now?
What excites me most is the shift towards more holistic and results-driven treatments. Clients are becoming more educated and invested in their skin and wellbeing, and the industry is constantly evolving with new technologies and ingredients. It’s inspiring to be part of an industry that blends science, wellness, and personalised care.
5. What advice would you give to a Frenchie who is about to attend the Job Fair?
Be confident in yourself and stay open to learning. You don’t need to know everything — your attitude, professionalism, and willingness to grow will set you apart. Take every opportunity to connect with people and ask questions, because those conversations can lead to incredible opportunities.
Most importantly, always be honest. Honesty builds trust, and it will take you much further in your career than trying to be perfect.
